So, my fine feathered friends, I know you've been wanting to hear about my past few days in Cannes. And even though I'm slightly tipsy still from my delicious dinner (read: breakfast. I jest, that's just my French wit), I will inform you. Without too many spelling errors if I'm lucky.
You ask, I answer - photos from my dorm window:

So, the very first thing I bought in France I bought from Monoprix - similar to Target. I bought a chocolate croissant. YUM. And then lots of other things there, shampoo, etc. It's a great store, I'm in love already.
My first day(s) of class went well, also. I really like my professor thus far, and I feel like I'm at an appropriate level of French. I'm in B 1.2, which is like 301 in the U.S. I'm actually attempting to do my homework at the moment, which hopefully won't suffer from my current condition... we shall see tomorrow, n'est-ce pas?
Our tour on Monday afternoon consisted of a lot of walking, and I got to see the famous home of the Cannes Film Festival (where I may be interning at some point?) as well as the Carlton:
| Part of the city |
| Where the film festival is held - there will be a red carpet rolled out here in not too long! |
| I just love him |
| Dock by La Croisette, a famous street in Cannes with all the big labels in fashion |
| The Carlton. Fun fact: the domes are supposedly modeled after the architect's lover's breasts. |
I went back out to the city today and then we had a fancy dinner. It was delish, as I stated previously.
| In French, window shopping is "lèche-vitrines," literally "window licking" |
| Kama sutra chocolate, anyone? |
| Yes, it is this idyllic here |
| Edge of mon collège. By the way, collège in French means Jr. High. I go to Jr. High. |
| A surprise for Emily's birthday! And they made it vegan! |
| Raspberry cake - yummers! And a peek at my wine. |
Pesto tortellini, then a mixed veggie plate, followed by that lovely dessert. It's been a good couple of days! Quite different from the cafeteria, which isn't bad, it's just not great. The vegetarians are segregated at the table with the green tablecloth - lawlz! We're trying to work it out so that we can sit with other people and just get our food at the salad bar or something, so we'll see. Otherwise I'll be sitting at that table for four months, which could get old. More to come after Monaco and Eze...
Tchao!
